Eggshell
Magic ornaments are truly "One of A Kind"
No two ornaments are the
same due to distinctive egg shape and hand-painted
designs. Colors, shades, size, and accent touches will
vary. Every egg bears my
signature. Each eggshell is hand-painted and hand-coated with many
layers of poly-urethane sealer for
high-gloss glass-like beauty and durability. Each
ornament can be dated with the year and
the name of the recipient. It comes with a
white gift box ready for giving.

FAQ's

Do you guarantee your
ornaments?
Eggshell Magic offers this
simple guarantee. If you are not completely
satisfied with your purchase, just return it
within 7 days for a full refund (minus the cost of shipping). Exceptions do apply
to custom orders which can't be resold. If you experience
breakage in shipment (which has only happened once in all the years I
have shipped ornaments), email me immediately.
Are
they REAL eggshells?
Yes, an egg farm in Alabama saves
me the largest double-yolks of the season. Eggs are
larger in the early spring. So that's my buying time.
OK, you've said they're double-yolks. But what size are they?
It's hard to say because eggs come in many different shapes. Some are
fat and round. Some are elongated. I select egg shapes that complement
the design. An approximate measurement of a double-yolk hen egg is
between 6-6˝" in perimeter (around
the middle); 7" around the elongated part. Eggs on a stand are
elongated and range from 3" to 3˝"
tall. This measurement includes the stand and pearl topper.
The pictures
on your website aren't personalized. So what does the
personalization look like?
I write on each egg with a permanent marker in a cursive
script. Sometimes I print instead of using cursive. It depends on
the design as to which personalization technique I will use. Dark eggs are
usually personalized using white ink. White and lighter colored
eggs are personalized using black ink. You can see a few
examples of my personalization here.
I would like
an ornament to be back-dated. Can you do that?
Absolutely. Just request and it will be done.
Don't
they break easily?
My eggshells are coated with a minimum of
15 coats of polyurethane sealer to strengthen and protect. Care should be
taken with your Eggshell Magic ornament just as you would protect your
other fine Christmas ornaments. Many of my customers have Eggshell
Magic ornaments on their trees dating back to 1980. I have
over 100 eggs on my personal Christmas tree, and with 3 dogs and 4
grandkids, none have ever been broken. A few years ago, one my new
puppies CHEWED one up, but it never "broke."
Why don't you
have a shopping cart?
A shopping cart with automated charges
isn't a good fit for the product I sell. I find my customers like
to "talk" to me first, mostly via email. Some
orders require several emails before the details are worked out.
You will find that I'm prompt to respond to all inquiries. I enjoy
the personal contact and have acquired many long-term customers whom I
consider friends. I also recommend that you always inquire about
the
availability of any particular design BEFORE sending payment.
Do you take orders by phone?
I do take phone calls, but please be mindful that I
work a full time job during the day and the best time to reach me is in
the evenings after 5:30pm and on weekends. I live in the Central
Standard Time Zone, so please consider the time difference when calling.
Finally, I can not take credit cards by phone. If you wish to pay by
credit or debit card, I will send you my Paypal link via email.
How
long does it take to complete an egg?
The egg painting process
takes a minimum of 5 days from start to finish. It
includes painting, glittering, glazing, curing,
personalizing, and adding filigrees and cord.
How
do you paint so small?
It is not difficult for me to paint small
because I have never painted large. I learned to paint on eggshells and
have never wanted to paint on anything else. My son recently gave
me one of those natural-light lamps with the magnifying lens.
Bless you Mark:)
Your ornaments look really nice on the website. But will they look
that good when I receive them?
Most customers tell me they look BETTER than the
photos on the website. I reduce the pixels of my images to make
them load faster on the web, and that tends to reduce the quality of the
photos and lessens the details. To read what my customers have
written about my eggs, please click here.
How
do you get the yolk out?
The inside of the egg comes
out rather easily when you know what you are doing. Holes
are drilled in the top and bottom. A pointed instrument
such as a wooden skewer is inserted into the egg. The
yolk is stirred. An egg syringe is used to pump the
insides out.
How
do you clean them?
All eggshells are cleaned in
a solution of detergent, bleach and water. They are thoroughly
rinsed, drained, and allowed to air dry.
Are you the
original Egglady?
Sound a bit strange? Believe it or not, I
get asked this several times a year. Folks will email me and say
they have an egg that someone gave them, or they bought at an estate
sale, etc., and it was signed "The Egglady." I have always
signed my eggs with my full name, Susan Willard. So, if you have
an egg signed "Egglady"....you can rest assured I'm not "The Egglady" that painted your
egg. However, if you see Susan Willard on it anywhere, then I'm your gal :-)
